You left me
By Becky Newman
You left me outside
in the cold and wet,
Where I rotted inside out without seeking medical
care from a vet,
I thought it couldn’t get any worse,
Until my water ran out and my ribs got broken,
Then I lie in pain screaming for forgiveness,
I don’t know what I did to deserve this
torture.
As I crawl to the fence and lay slumped on
the ground,
I wish I was dead,
To end this suffering I close my eyes,
And wish for someone to come and hold me in
their arms.
A man dressed in a uniform answered my prayer,
He picked me up in his arms and carried me to
a car,
I arrived at a big building where I received
a magical injection,
It sent me to the heavens where I could finally
rest.
As I look down on the world and watch over
my abuser,
I can see him going to prison getting what he
deserves,
I can relax now, be free from pain,
Thanks to my rescuers that freed me from my
vain.
