Dogs are used as alive baits to attract sharks

The cruelty to its higher point

Doomed to be used as baits for the high-sea fishing, many dogs from Reunion Island are exploited as alive baits to fish shark. Several parts of the bodies are used for the fish-hook: the hind paws, the forepaws, nylon yarn sewn in muzzle, in the skull, hook in the pendulous lips. It is above all in the East coast where sharks are lured with alive dogs or cats and these acts of barbarity are severely repressed by the law when the torturers are caught in the act. The European Defense of the Animals joins the 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation in order to put a stop to these over aged practices.

The Reunion Island counts approximately 150.000 stay dogs left to themselves, victims of regular and particularly cruel maltreatments. The dogs are used as alive baits for the shark fishing by hooking them before throwing them overboard !

Facing this situation, the 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation immediately reacted by making the local authorities aware of this problem. An investigation requested by the public prosecutor of Saint-Denis de La Réunion is still in progress whereas new cases of martyred dogs have just been discovered.

Warned by the actions of the 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation, the German daily newspaper « Bild » followed by its fellows colleagues in the European union such as « The Daily Mail » are making Europe sensitive to the unspeakable horror inflicted to the dogs of Reunion Island . The 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation extends its range of action within the European frontiers and spread its petition in German and in English by the way of its websitet www.30millionsdamis.fr .
