Massacre without
pity: the indescriptible horror of the Chinese
fur industry
By publishing these
dreadful and deeply disturbing images coming out
of China, we want everyone to be aware of what
is truly hidden behind the trim of their collar
or hood; aware of the living conditions in which
these animals are kept, and the way in which they
are put to death. This indescribable shame has
no place in a world we can call civilized. For
this to cease, the public needs to know the truth,
so that every responsible and humane person will
never wish to wear the product of such great suffering.
The killing method
consists of stunning the animal by dealing repeated
blows to the head or by swinging and smashing
him or her to the ground head first. Skinning
with a knife begins by the stomach, while the
animal is suspended by the hind legs, upside down
on a hook. A great many animals remain fully conscious
during this procedure. They struggle desperately,
trying to defend themselves right to the very
end. Even after their skin has been completely
removed, we have still noticed breathing, heartbeat
and movements of the body and eyelids during five
to ten minutes.
